Today is Labor Day; the unofficial last day of summer. Tomorrow, mostly everybody goes back to work and school and face reality. Also struck by reality, in the upcoming Virginia Governor’s election between Republican Ken Cuccinelli and Democrat Terry McAuliffe, I will vote for…
As you know, I do not like Cuccinelli’s stance on many issues and I don’t like McAuliffe’s personality and swarminess. Here’s the thing; I don’t know who I should vote for.
Now you’re wondering why I want to do a write-in, you’re just wasting your vote? My belief in elections is similar to my profession in recruiting and that’s you vote for the best person for the job, not the political parties to tell you to vote for.
I also believe the political system isn’t broken, the people made it broken because they don’t want to participate, they really hate the government, or they’re brainwashed. You don’t have to like the current government, but if you want change, tell us who you want. Not voting means you accept the status quo and let other people decide for you. Although it’s one voice, you still have a voice and you feel certain about your choice.
This will be the third time I have done a write-in. The first was the 2004 Presidential Election and the second was the 2009 Virginia Governors election. This one I need your help.
We’re going to follow Virginia’s eligibility guidelines and the basic requirements is:
- You have to be 30 years old or older.
- You must reside in Virginia for at least 5 years before the election.
I want you, under the comments section, to leave
- Your name
- Where you live in Virginia
- What are your 5 biggest issues in Virginia and your stance
Submissions end on the day before Election Day and I will decide from your comments who I should write-in for Virginia Governor. Do I expect this write-in to win? No, but I can bet that person makes a better governor than the two we have on the ticket and be satisfied on my choice.
